Slum Sociable - The Castle Tour
Slum Sociable + Teischa + Crooked Letter
Entry Requirements: 18+
With their anticipated debut album release just over a month away, Slum Sociable today announce national tour dates and share an exquisite, stripped back version of ‘Castle’ with fans.
The Castle Tour, slated for December, will see the band playing some of their biggest rooms to date across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Hobart. The shows will be supported by rising stars Teischa and Crooked Letter.
“This whole album was written in Cregan's (Ed’s) bedroom over the last three years, and to think that we're going to be playing some pretty massive rooms around Australia because of that is insane. So yeah, dream come true kinda shit right here.
“We've worked really hard on the live show for this tour and can't wait to play these songs live for the first time. Thanks for being part of this journey.” – Slum Sociable
The announcement of the tour dates is accompanied by a stripped back version of current single ‘Castle’. The video was filmed in Ed’s living room by a close friend and sees the song pared right back to a piano and Miller’s celestial, melancholic vocals.
“Castle is a song about the walls people put up around themselves, for whatever reasons, and about trying to break through them with the intent to help.”
Featuring both ‘Castle’ and earlier single ‘Don’t Come Back Another 100 Times’, Slum Sociable – the album – is due for release on November 24. The band’s debut full-length offering is a confident and ambitious musical statement that takes the vibrant groundwork laid on 2015’s TQ EP and builds a far-reaching new estate. Recorded between Melbourne and London with esteemed producers Russell Fawcus (The Temper Trap) and Rich Cooper (Mystery Jets), and mixed by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Cut Copy, Gnarls Barkley), the album sees the duo bringing their musical vision into full existence. It’s an innovative and immersive record, where layered melodies are soaked with colour and mood and vibrant soundscapes expand upon each listen, with the groove (in true Slum Sociable style) always the priority.
Crooked Letter is a melting pot of sounds born from dusty crates and tireless exploration. The Nigerian Australian producer and Rapper from Sydney, has performed around the states live music venue staples as one half of the electronic duo Spirals, delivering their unique brand of soulful electronica whilst playing along side Australia’s most forward thinking artists and scoring support slots from Brain-feeder heavyweights such as Daedelus and Nosaj thing. Standing on his own however, Crooked Letter steps out from behind his controllers and up to the mic to bring an energetic mix of afro-centric rhythms, clever wordplay and sample based trickery; creating something entirely his own. His first Single ‘Heretics’ is an up-tempo afro-beats frenzy, and the sure footed first step of an artist with a clear sonic vision. With impressive remixes and collaborations already in his stead and his Debut EP fast approaching, Crooked Letters lyrical and production prowess will see him turn from new comer to mainstay in no time at all.
